How a Furnace Works
A high efficiency gas furnace. as installed by our Lewisville air conditioning repair team from Frost Brothers, is a model of simplistic design and a marvel of modern engineering. Natural or LP gas is used to fuel the burner, which in turn heats a stream of constantly moving air inside the heat exchanger. This heated air is then forced by a blower through a series of ducts into the home.
As the air cools, it is drawn into a separate series of ducts and returned to the heat exchanger, where the cycle begins again. Exhaust gases from the burning process in the furnace are vented through yet another separate series of ducts to the outside of the home. A programmable thermostat controls the air temperature by adjusting the supply of gas to the burner.
Furnace Filter
One often overlooked, but essential component of any Lewisville furnace / heating system, is the furnace filter. The filter is usually positioned at the end of the cold air return, and filters returning air before it reaches the heat exchanger. The filter removes dust, lint and other potentially harmful particles from the returning air. Without a properly functioning filter, these particles could build up on the heat exchanger; eventually seriously affect the efficiency of the entire system. Adequate airflow is essential, and a clogged or dirty filter can significantly reduce this flow. Filters in your Lewisville furnace should be inspected monthly and replaced on a regular schedule, usually once a month.
Fall Preseason Furnace Check-Up
Although relatively maintenance free, aside from changing filters, gas furnaces do require some yearly preventive maintenance to ensure peak performance. The ideal time to perform any needed annual maintenance is before the start of the actual heating season. This annual fall preseason furnace check-up can be performed by our Lewisville furnace repair and installation contractor.
